| Elin and her new husband, Pekka Hakkarainen, wanted to start their life together in America, so they boarded Titanic as third class passengers bound for Pennsylvania. On the night of the accident they were awakened by the collision, and Pekka went to investigate. Elin was later taken by friends to the boat deck where an officer offered her the last seat in lifeboat number fifteen. She took the seat and was later rescued by the Carpathia. She never saw her husband, Pekka, again. | ||
